Straight to School
A busy college student and media intern gets a new look that not only keeps
her presentable in
class and on the job, but cuts preparation time out of her hectic schedule. A team of experts
come together to create the perfect package for this busy girl.
Before getting started, Scott consulted with Ashley about her biggest "hair issues." After a
short visit, he found that her primary concerns were shortening the style time involved in
the morning and managing curly, thick hair that often strayed out of control. Because of these
particular issues, he chose a more permanent fix than just a typical style and cut. For Ashley,
Scott decided that she would benefit from a Thermal Straightening Process. This is somewhat
lengthy and generally costs between $400-$600 to complete, but is well worth the
investment for someone like Ashley. The process not only straightens the hair shaft, but
helps to eliminate frizz common with coarse, curly hair. After completing the thermal
straightening steps, he began to create a cut style that would maximize the benefits of her
hair's new condition. Scott explains that her hair type holds water, which adds to drying time,
and that the heaviness of her curly style gave it the least amount of control. To remedy the
problem, he decided on very few layers, and a cut with an expressive freedom in style. This
clean, blunt cut is also one he felt would be more conducive to her natural highlights and
would bring out her eyes, cheekbones and neckline. The look is young, yet polished, and is
one that will last throughout the season ahead.
